It cannot be reduced to a decision made by one person or company. The final value depends on network parameters: the emission volume, the amount of DEL in delegation, the user&#8217;s share in the total stake, the validator&#8217;s commission and performance, as well as additional mechanics such as Hold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What APR shows<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>APR is an approximate annual reward percentage for delegation.<\/p>\n<p>Suppose a user has delegated 1,000 DEL, and the actual APR after the validator&#8217;s commission is 11.5%. If current conditions remain unchanged, about 115 DEL will be accrued over a year.<\/p>\n<p>This figure can change. When the total staking volume grows, the reward is distributed among a larger number of coins. The result is also affected by emission, the validator&#8217;s commission, and the stability of its operation.<\/p>\n<p>It is better to treat APR as a current network indicator, not as a rate fixed forever.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why APR was higher in the early years<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DecimalChain has been running since August 1, 2020. At the start, the network needed to attract delegators, build a large total stake, and strengthen the security of the blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>A high APR helped solve this task. Users had extra motivation to delegate DEL to validators and take part in supporting the network.<\/p>\n<p>For a young blockchain, this is a normal model. There are few participants and the staking volume is small, so each delegated coin receives a higher share of rewards.<\/p>\n<p>Over the following years, the number of delegators and the volume of coins in staking grew. Rewards began to be distributed among a larger amount of DEL, and the network economy gradually moved to a more mature stage.<\/p>\n<p>This decrease is built into the very logic of how the blockchain works.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What APR looks like in 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to data as of July 21, 2026, a regular delegator receives approximately <strong>11.5\u201312% APR per year<\/strong> after the validator&#8217;s commission.<\/p>\n<p>For DEL placed in Hold for a term of one year or more, an additional reward applies. In this case, the combined APR can be around <strong>25\u201326% per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For 1,000 DEL the calculation looks like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>regular delegation: about 115 DEL per year;<\/li>\n<li>Hold for one year or more: about 257 DEL per year, including the base reward and the bonus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These values remain variable. They depend on the total staking volume, the amount of DEL in Hold, the validator&#8217;s commission, and other network parameters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How the staking volume affects the percentage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Imagine that over a certain period the network distributes the same volume of rewards. If these rewards are divided among 1 million DEL, each thousand coins receives one share. When the staking volume grows to 10 million DEL, the same volume of rewards is distributed among a much larger number of coins.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the percentage yield decreases.<\/p>\n<p>For the network, the growth of staking is a positive thing. The more DEL takes part in delegation, the higher the economic protection of the blockchain. Gaining significant influence over consensus would require controlling a much larger volume of coins. A decreasing APR can go hand in hand with growing security and maturity of the network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The decrease is gradually slowing down<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the early years, the changes were more noticeable. The network grew fast, new delegators kept joining, and the total staking volume increased at a high pace.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, the growth becomes calmer. Most active participants have already joined staking, and the economy has approached a more stable range.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between 60% and 40% looks huge. The move from 13% to 12% feels much softer. Yet both changes can be part of the same model, where each next stage has a smaller effect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why a blockchain needs a moderate APR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A high APR means a fast issuance of new coins. It helps attract participants but at the same time increases the supply of DEL.<\/p>\n<p>If the number of coins grows faster than the number of users, transactions, services, and projects, an imbalance appears. More and more DEL enters circulation, while the volume of its practical use grows more slowly.<\/p>\n<p>The number of coins in a wallet increases, but by itself this does not yet create additional value.<\/p>\n<p>A sustainable economy requires balance. The network keeps rewarding validators and delegators, while the emission rate gradually decreases. At the same time, DEL gets more use cases: fees, custom tokens, reserves, projects, services, and internal settlements.<\/p>\n<p>This way, the economy depends less and less on high yield and relies more and more on the actual use of the blockchain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Hold receives an additional reward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hold is designed for long-term participation. A user locks DEL for at least one year and deliberately limits the ability to freely manage these coins. Thanks to this, the staking volume becomes more stable, and the probability of a large amount of DEL quickly returning to circulation decreases. For this long-term commitment, the network distributes an additional reward.<\/p>\n<p>The bonus pool is shared among all Hold participants. The more coins are placed for a long term, the wider the distribution circle. That is why the final Hold percentage can also change.<\/p>\n<p>Accruals are also affected by the validator. Rewards are paid out by active validators that take part in block creation and reliably support the network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What this means for DecimalChain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From 2020 to 2026, DecimalChain went from a young network with a high APR to a more mature economic model. In the beginning, the high percentage helped build the stake and attract participants. Now it is more important to expand the actual use of DEL: paying fees, creating tokens, forming reserves, launching services, making transactions, and developing projects. APR shows the speed at which new coins are distributed. The long-term value of the network depends on the number of tasks these coins are used for.<\/p>\n<p>The gradual decrease of APR reflects the maturing of DecimalChain.
