The purpose of this page is to collect and present brief definitions of terms used in texts about DecimalChain, blockchains, and cryptocurrencies. Full articles are great (that's why we started this project), but some beginners may find it more convenient to start with a simple short explanation.
Please note that this compilation is aimed at the meta-level, not the project level, so terms related to the operation of the Decimal Wiki site (e.g., "administrator", "wikification", etc.) should not be included here. To familiarize yourself with them, visit our Help section.

M

Masternode — a Decimal network node that stores a replica of the blockchain and participates in consensus establishment.

Mathematical entity — an abstract concept that arises in mathematics. It is anything that is formally defined and can be used for deductive reasoning and mathematical proofs.

Mining — a method and process of generating/emitting new coins through solving computational tasks.

Minting — a method and process of generating/emitting new coins in exchange for organizing and maintaining the Decimal network, specifically by establishing consensus through voting.

N

Native token / Native coin — the base and key coin of the blockchain.

Non-custodial wallet — a method of storing funds in which the owner of the funds exclusively owns the private keys of crypto addresses.

O

Optimization — the selection of the best option among possible ones to achieve the highest efficiency of a certain process.

T

Transaction confirmation — the process of approving a transaction and recording it in the block chain.

Throughput — a metric characteristic that shows the ratio of the maximum quantity.

P

pBFT — a consensus algorithm based on the process of voting for candidate blocks.

PoS (Proof-of-Stake) — a consensus algorithm among network participants based on the participant’s insurance deposit at risk.
